How to Properly Categorize Your Used Video Game Material
A thorough assessment of the condition is essential to receiving a fair offer and expediting the process. Carefully read the descriptions of each category and choose the one that best describes your product.
Never used or almost never used
Product in near-perfect condition, virtually indistinguishable from new. Purchased but never used, or used only once, with extreme care.
Characteristics
- Original packaging present and in perfect or near perfect condition
- No visible signs of wear
- All original accessories included and never used
- Manuals and stickers still sealed (if applicable)
- Perfect working order, tested briefly or never turned on
- No scratches, dents or marks of any kind
"Purchased PlayStation 5 3 months ago, turned on only once to test. Original box in perfect condition, all accessories sealed. Looks brand new."
Little used
Product used with care and for a limited period. It shows minimal or imperceptible signs of use that do not detract from the overall aesthetics.
Characteristics
- Limited time use (a few months)
- Any signs of use are almost imperceptible.
- Original packaging present (even with slight signs of wear)
- All original accessories included and working
- Perfect functioning without defects
- Some non-essential items may be missing (e.g. protective film)
Nintendo Switch used for 4 months. A few imperceptible micro-scratches on the screen. Original controllers in perfect condition. Box slightly worn but complete.
Used with care
Product used regularly but always treated with care. It shows normal but limited signs of use, with no obvious defects.
Characteristics
- Regular but careful use
- Light signs of use but visible upon careful inspection
- Possible superficial micro-scratches on the body
- Main accessories present and functioning
- Original packaging may be missing or damaged
- Perfect operation without technical problems
- Some secondary accessories may be missing
Xbox Series X used for 1 year. Some superficial scratches on the top case. Controller with slightly polished rubber tips. Everything works perfectly. No original box.
Minimal signs of use
Product is normally used with obvious signs of use that do not compromise functionality. The aesthetic appearance clearly shows prolonged use.
Characteristics
- Prolonged use over time
- Visible scratches and obvious signs of wear
- Possible superficial dents
- Controllers or accessories with normal wear (worn analog sticks, shiny buttons)
- Original packaging generally absent
- Correct operation without technical defects
- Some non-essential accessories may be missing
PlayStation 4 used for 3 years. Visible scratches on the chassis, controllers with worn but functional thumbsticks. Clean fan, works perfectly. Includes console, controller, and power cable only.
Visible signs of use
Product with heavy use and clear signs of wear. The aesthetics are compromised, but functionality remains good. A detailed description of the defects is required.
Characteristics
- Very intensive and prolonged use
- Deep scratches, dents, discolored parts
- Possible aesthetic (non-structural) cracks or breaks
- Controller or accessories are very worn (possible minor malfunctions)
- Possible accumulated dirt or signs of poor maintenance
- Overall good operation, possible minor issues (e.g. noisy fan, occasionally temperamental player)
- Accessories or cables are often missing
Xbox One, heavily used for 5 years. Deep scratches, dent on one side, noisy fan but works. Controller with slight analog stick drift. Drive works but is slow. Console and one controller only.
Tips for an accurate assessment
- Be honest: an accurate description speeds up the process and ensures a fair offer.
- If in doubt between two categories, choose the lower one and specify the details in the description
- Photos are essential: they show the real conditions better than words.
- Always highlight visible defects, even if small
- Test everything before submitting the request: button functionality, player, connectivity, etc.
- Clean your product before photographing it: dust and dirt can make conditions look worse.
